Discovering Duluth: An Unforgettable Weekend Getaway at The Duluth Airbnb, L'Étoile du Nord!

If you are in search of an exceptional family/group-friendly vacation destination full of amenities and within walking distance to every local attraction, look no further than The Duluth Airbnb. "L'Étoile du Nord" is a three bedroom, two bathroom vacation rental, which undoubtedly stood out as the best place to stay in Duluth, and this is coming from someone who has traveled to Canal Park every summer since I was a baby.

Usually, my family of five would get a hotel but when me, my sister and brother got older, we needed way more space and it got super expensive eating out as a family and needing multiple hotel rooms. The Duluth Airbnb, there is no worry about space and we could save money by bringing our own meals and cooking in the kitchen. The island is huge and sits 10, the only think that bums me out about it was that it wasn’t available when I was a kid for our family vacation!

As soon as we arrived at L'Étoile du Nord, we couldn't help but be charmed by its welcoming atmosphere, which made us feel right at home. The name, meaning "The Star of the North," perfectly suits the property's delightful qualities. Its beautiful natural surroundings and ample parking were definitely a plus. Parking is free for up to two cars with your stay. All you need to do is unpack and park because everything else is within walking distance. Even if it’s raining or middle of our bitter Minnesota winters there are two restaurants, a bar and brewery in the same building as well as a kiddy pool, pool, sauna and hot tub.

We visited "L'Étoile du Nord" right after the fourth of July, prime weather, everything is open & the town was buzzing which is always so fun! This oversize vacation rental in Canal Park (it’s the biggest we’ve ever found in the area) proved to be an excellent choice for large families and groups of friends seeking a comfortable and social setting. The spacious living room allowed us to unwind together and engage in enjoyable game nights filled with laughter and friendly competition. We loved being able to play darts as couples after our littles went to bed.

Speaking of our littles, our one-year-old had a delightful time splashing around in the kiddy pool, normally when we go to hotels or other rentals they either have a pool or only have one that starts at 3 feet. This kiddy pool was warm and at only a foot deep perfect for splashing, “swimming” and exploring for our little. She didn’t want to get out!

*One thing to note- this Airbnb is attached to a hotel so the pool amenities are shared with the hotel, but we had no problem with crowds or to many people, just something to be aware of!

The property's location at the heart of Canal Park added to its appeal. With close proximity to the iconic Canal Park Boardwalk, we were treated to a short walk down to see the massive ships passing through the Aerial Lift Bridge. This is a bucket list experience for anyone visiting Duluth, but something we love trying to catch each time we visit.

After visiting the Lift Bridge, be sure to explore the rest of Canal Park, take a leisurely stroll along the boardwalk with picturesque views of Lake Superior. The quaint boutiques and shops in the area offered unique souvenirs, and we continued our tradition of getting postcards to send to our grandparents and purchased another Christmas tree ornament.

For adventure enthusiasts, Duluth is a haven of exciting activities. The nearby Lakewalk trail provided a scenic route for biking and strolling, or you can paddle, kayak or boat out into Lake Superior. We were able to do a sunrise paddle, which is an experience I would reccomend to anyone looking for a unique way to explore the lake and area!

"L'Étoile du Nord" certainly lived up to its reputation as one of Canal Park's most spacious vacation rentals. With ample room for our group of four adults and two toddlers, we appreciated table and being able to cook and eat together in the kitchen, play with plenty of space, and their environment that allowed us to relax and move freely, and spread out with spacious rooms at night.

Our week at L'Étoile du Nord was truly exceptional, blending comfort, amusement, and convenience seamlessly. From the delightful game nights and heartwarming moments in the kiddy pool to the exhilarating adventures in Canal Park, we created memories that will be cherished for a lifetime. If you're planning a trip to Duluth with your family and friends, I wholeheartedly recommend this Duluth vacation rental for an unforgettable stay. Trust me; you won't be disappointed! Happy travels to all!
