Looking for a unique experience stay in Minnesota, look no further than Sweetbriar Ridge, Minnesota’s newest dome stay located less than an hour and a half from the Twin Cities. Built by a husband and wife team, who are just getting started with this project, with two more domes coming soon. There is something so special about personalized vacation rentals, in a sea of modern cabins and cozy cottages this luxury dome stay really stands out from the crowd.

Opened in May of 2024, you still have the opportunity to be one of the first to check out and explore this unique space. In addition to their three domes, Sweetbriar Ridge is on a mission to preserve much of their acreage as grassland, native habitat planting pollinator friendly flowers, and more. When you talk to them be sure to ask about their goals and dreams for the property, it goes so much deeper than just a “stay”.

These domes have two beds, a king on the main floor and a queen bed in the mezzanine loft and sleep four. This isn’t your typical glamping set up. Starting when you walk into the bathroom with a eucalyptus shower, towel warmer, luxury towels and a design that will make you want to spend your whole vacation in the bathroom alone (yes I know that sounds weird but I’m not kidding.) You’ll be able to cook in the kitchenette, take out the paddle boards to the Snake River, relax by the fire as the sunsets over their 56 acres of prairie. When you go to bed you will be sleeping on the most comfortable sheets you’ve ever experienced. I’ve lived out of Airbnb’s and have easily photographed over 75 and these are the most comfortable ones I’ve ever slept on. Seriously Bri and Dave where did you get them?

We chose to use the loft bed, because you’re able to take a piece of fabric off the dome to reveal a stargazing window through the top. So when you go to bed each evening, you see nothing but twinkling stars all around because of where their land is situated. You don’t get that in major cities, and it truly makes you appreciate the nature aspects that were so thoughtfully brought into this stay. + if you go in early summer you’re likely to see a snapping turtle laying eggs on the driveway or on the property. Remember keep your distance, but it’s always a cool sight to see!

Sweetbriar Ridge is located less than 15 minutes from downtown Pine City. Stroll through town, grab a coffee from Cabina Coffee. Have littles? There’s multiple parks around town that are great to play and spend a morning running around. In the afternoon grab a brew from Three Twenty Brewing Company and if you’re looking for a bite be sure to stop by The Garage, in the summer be sure to check out the roof top patio.

Solidago

Solidago dome, named after the vibrant goldenrod flowers that adorn the prairie, offers a breathtaking panorama of one of Minnesota's most cherished and vanishing ecosystems; the native prairie landscape. Today, merely fragments of Minnesota's prairies endure, accounting for less than 1% of their former expanse. Sweetbriar Ridge stands firm in its pledge to preserve and rejuvenate these grasslands, safeguarding their ecological richness for generations to come.

For the kids: we traveled with our two year old on this trip, and we’re quite ready to have her sleep in the loft by herself yet, so we brought her portable toddler bed, there’s also room for a porta-crib, as well. In the summer especially, you’re going to want a Slumberpod if your little struggles to sleep with sunlight or lights on. While there is a curtain, there’s still enough space that it stays quite light in the summer. In the winter, it shouldn’t be an issue at all!

Want to see more of what we bring when we travel with our toddler? I have all our must have items here.

Speaking of winter the domes have plans to add an additional cozy element in the coming months to make sure when you’re snuggled up with your sweetheart watching the snow fly outside, there’s no winter chill inside, just warm coffee, the best views and cozy vibes.
