Montana Aframe Perfect for the Whole Family

Hello from a stunning red Aframe located about 20 minutes out side of Anaconda, Montana. This renovated 1960’s cabin was a families dream, turned into a reality that they now are so kindly sharing with the world.

For those who don’t know our story, we are spending a year traveling and living out of short- and mid-term rentals as we travel with our little family of three. Throughout our year of travel, we chose to live in Montana for the fall, after our summer in Idaho.

What I was most excited for during our time in Montana, was to explore a state that we’ve driven through many times but hadn’t had nearly enough time to explore. We specifically were looking forward to visiting the big name towns: Bozeman, Whitefish, Kalispell. But even after living here for just a few weeks I’m beginning to realize there are so many hidden gem towns and places to explore that I never knew about before landing here, including Montana Aframe.

Montana Aframe is located just outside of Anaconda, Montana, a one mile walk to beautiful Lake George, 15 minutes to Discovery ski hill and 46 miles from the nearest Starbucks, this stay is your families chance to disconnect, enjoy nature and enjoy hiking and all the conversation around the bonfire while still having all the modern amenities of home.

The aframe is a one bedroom, one bathroom with a master in the loft. In total it can sleep six, but we loved staying with our little family of three. We visited in the fall and truly this was, in my opinion, the best time to go. The lake was calm, the sunsets were extra glowing, and it was the perfect temp to use the woodfire stove inside and outside, which just added to all the cozy vibes.

Cozy up by the woodstove and grab a book or take a nap.

Sarah and Jeff bought and recently renovated the 1960’s aframe. They took the aframe and expanded it, added the dormer and updated the whole space. It’s incredible how they managed to preserve the aframe, but also modernize it and make it their own.

The reason why the Montana Aframe is a great fit for families is they are a family themselves that frequently stays so they know exactly what is needed to make sure everyone from even the tiniest traveler feels welcome and at home. The aframe is stocked with all the goods for families to play games, movies, a drawer filled with children’s books and toys and they don’t mess around with sleep: blackout curtains, sound machine, and a pack in play.

While the aframe is situated in the trees, it was only a one-mile walk to the lake (Georgetown Lake). It was beautiful in the morning walking out onto the deck and seeing the fog rise off the water.

Montana Aframe sits on plenty of land where you felt like you had your own space, could enjoy the beautiful views, but there are also some houses around so it’s not the middle of no where and that means they have wifi, as well!

Overall, we loved our stay, and I had a hard time leaving the cozy living room, coffee and woodfired stove behind. So someone go enjoy it for me!

While we didn’t see one, make sure you keep you eye out when you stay. Moose frequent the area and you can get a great look from the deck or through the wall of windows. What an experience!
