Stoner Creek Cabins

When I think of Montana, images of mountains, rolling hills and Glacier National Park come to mind. One place that I didn’t even know existed was Flathead Lake. A 30 mile long lake that is filled with on water activities, quaint homes, epic views and is really an underrated destination (coming from this MN girl, who never realized this existed).

Tucked just a mile up the hill from Lakeside, Montana located on Flathead Lake are Stoner Creek Cabins, nine private cabins on ten acres with Stoner Creek frontage. These cabins are within walking distance to the waterfront park, local restaurants, watercraft rentals, coffee shops, and craft brewery. Just a few miles up the road is access to thousands of acres of public land for hiking, biking, huckleberry picking, and Blacktail Mountain Ski Area during the snow season.

We stayed in the Bitterroot cabin, which is at the end of the row of cabins and in my opinion is the cabin to stay in when you visit because is has just a little more space being at the end of the row, which is super nice!

Stoner Creek Cabins, are modern tiny cabins with one bedroom, a loft, kitchen and living room, which was by far my favorite pat of the place. On two sides there are walls of windows that are open to nature, the trees, we saw deer walking by right on our patio and could hear the creek running in the distance.

The Bedroom

The bedroom has a queen bed, end table, lamp and a clothes rack. There is also one window with blackout curtains which is amazing for babies sleep.

This cabin was one of the few stays where Adayla’s portacrib was in the same room as us, as it’s a tiny cabin. There is a loft, but there is a very steep set of stairs and we did not feel comfortable carrying her and the crib up stairs, but the loft was the perfect place for Matt to work during the day and there was already a desk up in the loft so a great place to visit for a weekend or if you need to work remote.

Each cabin comes equipped with cooking utensils, games, a electric fireplace, desk, bean bag chairs, luggage rack, and our personal favorite a washer and a dryer. Parents, you know how nice this can be with little ones who love to run and play outside.

When we visited we were at the end of our trip and we just wanted to relax in the cabin, but there are so many amazing things to do near by like:

Nearby:

Local Attractions:

Kalispell- 18 minutes

Flathead Lake- >5 minutes

Whitefish- 35 minutes

West Glacier- 51 minutes

Whitefish Mountain Resort- 53 minutes

East Glacier- 1 hour 45 minutes

Our favorite part of this trip was making dinner on the grill, and spending time outside on the patio. It was perfect with the sliding doors out to the patio I was making salad and rice in the kitchen, Matt was grilling and Adayla could come and go through the sliding door and hang out where we could see her, talk to each other and then we got to enjoy our meal outside on a beautiful 75 degree day in October.

The leaves hadn’t quite turned when we were there the first week of October but I bet if you came a week or two later you would be surrounded by golden leaves out your windows.

This stay is truly great for a couples retreat, a friends weekend, or even a mother daughter, father son family weekend.

Pro Tip: Don’t skip the Flathead Lake area on your next trip to Montana, we will defiantly be back to explore more in the future!
